James Power - "Real Real Man" CD Review

James Power's album, Real Real Man seems to be a tribute album to all of James' musical influences. Each song has hints of the great musicians of yesteryear, helping influence his very own style and lyrics. Which to me is a breath of fresh air. Giving the album a classic feel with a new life to it.

Its a rather brief cd, consisting of only 8 tracks. All of which are short and to the point, which makes the cd that much more enjoyable. There are no 8 minute solos or drawn out repeated choruses, just 8 great tracks of storytelling which I highly recommend giving a listen to.

What Do You Like About the Album?:

I really like how each song has its own unique sound. James Power gives the listener an opportunity to hear a wide spectrum of his abilities and creativy. While at the same time, spanning different types of musical styles and genres all while making it into his very own.

How Would You Describe the Albums's Sound:

It's hard to narrow down the album's sound. I don't want to sound cliche, but you really have to listen to every song because it provides a different look into James Power's abilities and musical influences.

What Other Musicians Would Fans of the Album Listen to:

Storytelling musicians come to mind. Musicians such as Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Woodie Guthrie.

What is Distinctive About this Release?:

Every song on the album has its own unique sound. From the fast paced That Texas Girl to the acoustic ballad in Honey Belle to a man's dying days in Hospital Dance each of James Power's songs on this album gives the listener a variety of his styles and ability.

What Tracks Do You Recommend?:

Track 2, Tennessee Boy (It's all over) is a great track which sort of reminds me of The Beatles' Rocky Raccoon.

That Texas Girl, Track 4, is an upbeat fun song to listen to (it even has hand claps, the Nooge's favorite instrument).

Track 7, Cold, Cold World is by far the best track on the album and one of my favorites that we have played on the Unsigned Artist Countdown!

What's A Good Thing to Do While Listening to this Album?:

I think this is a great CD to just sit back and really listen to. Maybe grab your favorite adult beverage (whiskey on the rocks possibly?) and let James Power tell you a story or two.

Have You Ever Heard This Band Play Live?:

No, I have never had the opportunity to hear James Power play live.
